One of the major problems of people trying to get people to become referrals is they clutter their site with thousands of flashing banners and lights in hopes to draw peoples attention, but through trial and error I have realized that people aren't drawn to clutter and tons of flashing lights. It is more attractive and easier to understand what is going on if you have a few links scattered throughout your website embedded into a few key phrases like this Here and possibly one banner which displays the object at which you are advertising be it an Xbox, Free Groceries or anything else which is neatly placed within your text somewhere visible, but not obstructing your text to much.
Notice how the banner isn't to flashy, and it displays the goal I have in mind for my readers without talking about the website at all, these are the kinds of banners I am talking about.
